The Blooming Cherry Blossoms of The Portland Waterfront
April 11, 2023
Every year in late March and early April, the Waterfront Park bursts with color as the cherry blossoms begin to bloom. Situated in the Japanese American Historical Plaza near the Steel Bridge, these trees attract hundreds of Portlanders and tourists every year to witness their beauty.
You can tell how popular these cherry blossoms are by just walking on the waterfront. Hundreds of people will be taking photos, rain or shine, so, make sure to get there early if you want the park a little less packed for a better opportunity to get less overcrowded photos.
Not only can you come down for the trees, but you can also visit the Portland Saturday Market. Crafts, jewelry, clothing, and amazing food, the market has everything you need and it’s just seconds away from the cherry blossoms.
You can also find plenty of great restaurants and cafes to eat from, as they’re right in the heart of Downtown Portland.
If you want to experience cherry blossoms in a different area, there are plenty of other places you can go to, including the Portland Japanese Garden, Washington Park, and the Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden.
Spring is all about doing new things but also going out to see the re-blooming nature after months of cold weather. These cherry blossoms are a perfect way to get a glimpse of some of the beautiful colors of spring, all while getting some perfect photo opportunities that you can enjoy with your friends and family.
