A Look into the Portland Flea

Eden Evans (She/her), Staff Writer

According to the Portland Flea website, the monthly market is “ a gathering place for the Creators, Curators, and Collectors.” This weekend a team of Headlight staff writers went on an excursion to check out the flea market and see what the hype was all about.

The best aspect of the flea is the diversity. At the Portland Flea Market, everyone is welcome with open arms regardless of their age, race, sexuality, or gender. Strangers talk to one another about fashion, collecting, and selling. Vendors learn about their customers and vice versa, and the community creates an amazing atmosphere.

Not only are the people diverse, but so are the things you might find at the flea market. Artists make their own pieces like jewelry, paintings, or clothes to sell. Other vendors are collecting vintage pieces and reselling them to be loved by someone new.

The flea has everything. There is food, drinks, furniture, cutlery, anything you could possibly imagine. Some even bring their dogs! This market offers a great experience where not only can you meet new people, but find creativity in a massive range of products.
