On August 23, rapidly growing pop star Sabrina Carpenter released her new album, Short n’ Sweet. Shortly after, she began her tour for the album.
The Short n’ Sweet tour is all about sass, singing and fun. Carpenter engages the audience with a good performance by having different outfits and moves for the fan-favorite song “Juno.”
Ida B. Wells math teacher Alexa Kirk says, “This concert, the production value was really good, the set design, her costumes…[it was a] very intentionally produced show.”
Carpenter clearly put a lot of work and effort into making the show exactly how she envisioned it. She makes sure that each show is unique and has its own personal quirk to it; such as on her previous tour, for her album emails i can’t send, where she would freestyle a different end to her song “Nonsense” during each performance.
Carpenter sets herself apart from other artists with her past career with Disney Channel. While her music just started to become well known two to three years ago, Carpenter’s been in the public eye for a long time. Starting on Disney Channel in 2012; she was casted as co-star in the show Girl Meets World.
While this was a great introduction to the celebrity world, Carpenter didn’t just want to be known as a child actor. So she rebranded herself with her new albums emails i cant send in 2022, and more recently, Short n’ Sweet.
Her newest album has helped her mature her image, as the album is explicit at times. This sets her apart from Disney because it attracts a more mature audience, and allows her to make the kind of music that most represents her personality.
In the concert itself, she continues to make the show relatable and fun for all ages but more specifically, the teenage and older demographic.
There are various aspects, positive and negative, that contribute to the overall experience of the concert.
Ruby Burke, an IBW freshman who went to Carpenter’s show at the Moda Center says, “I thought it was really fun to see one of the singers I liked live, and it was really cool to see everything up close and see her outfits.”
Sophomore Elin Engsterand who also attended says, “I liked how interactive she was with the crowd. The only thing a few people said that they didn’t like about the concert was that she took a long time to get on stage after the opener, otherwise, the concert was full of hype energy, her catchy and fun music, and her awesome outfits.”
The Short n’ Sweet tour by Sabrina Carpenter is still ongoing and traveling the world, set to end on March 26 2025.
Carpenter was nominated for multiple Grammy’s; such as Best New Artist, Album of the Year, Record of the Year and Song of the Year. This will be another big step in her career, leaving fans excited to see what she will do next.
