The long awaited spring fashion trends are finally starting to appear within Ida B. Wells High School. The sun is slowly starting to come out and students should prepare for shorts weather. Notable influencers such as Liwei and NAARJESSE from TikTok, Pinterest and Instagram are predicting denim-on-denim. Versatile and popular, the denim trend is here to stay.
This spring of 2025, students are drawn to comfort and oversized fits. Considering last year’s outfits, these were very popular. Already walking around our school you might see some students wear these trending fits.
Pants are still worn during spring, especially seeing as Oregon weather takes awhile to warm up. A common trend is baggy pants with a tighter top. A growing alternative for pants might be ankle or calf length jorts.
Another emerging trend is graphic tees. With prints and images, they are a way to express students’ interests and personality. IBW trends are a mix of athleisure, vintage modern styles with elements of streetwear and unisex fashion for all.
As for accessories, warmer weather tends to shift students’ jewelry color. Gold tends to become very popular during the springtime. With the sun coming out, students will naturally begin to tan and gold compliments this very nicely. It’s not spring until gold chunky hoop earrings are being worn. We will replace our beanies with trucker hats. Hair styles continue to be flowing with a middle part and half up half down styles.
Spring clothing is also starting to show in our local Washington Square Mall. For example, Hollister is bringing out 90’s baby Tee’s and mini skirts. On the other hand, Cotton On is offering a variety of halter tops, oversized shirts and tank tops. Garage is following a similar trend and is also offering halter tops, however with a tie and open back. For students looking to update their wardrobe for spring,Washington Square mall’s new arrivals are a great option.
To pair with your shoes, leg warmers might make their way into our school. Due to the spring mornings being cold, leg warmers are a great practical and stylish way to combat this weather.
Similar to winter fashion trends, Adidas Sambas are still a highly worn shoe and will likely continue to be through the summer. Converse and UGGs are also great to pair with spring weather.
Spring fashion this year is going to be a hit. Start planning your outfits now to prepare for the warm and sunny weather. As students and staff are well aware, the IBW building doesn’t have air conditioning, so dress accordingly. Make sure to put on sunscreen and have fun in the sun this spring.
