A soccer team full of teenage girls boards an airplane, on their way to nationals. Everything is great, everyone is excited and they are all confident they’ll do well at nationals. Then, the plane crashes. The girls, their assistant coach and head coach’s two sons are now left to fight for their survival in the Canadian wilderness. The TV show has an alternating timeline, jumping between when the girls were in their teens and present day as adults with their own separate lives.
This TV show consists of an impressive group of actors. Sophie Thatcher, Jasmin Savoy Brown, Steven Krueger, Julliette Lewis and Christini Ricci are just a few of the many popular names. The show was created by Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson, and was released in Nov. 2021, with the most recent season premiering on Feb. 14, 2025.
The last episode of season two aired over Memorial Day weekend in 2023, leaving viewers with a lot of questions. Fans had many theories leading up to the release of season three. There was a staggered release of the episodes, with the first on Feb. 14 and the final episode was released on April 11.
Season two ended very dramatically, after the girls found the cabin they were living in burning down, and the adult Natalie dying from being injected with poison from Misty’s syringe.
Some people questioned who burned the cabin down, while others theorized which characters might die this season. Lastly, viewers wondered who “pit girl” is — a character whose identity is subject to much speculation.
The show has done a good job of keeping things under wraps. There were no leaked spoilers, and the cast in interviews did a good job of keeping the fans guessing.
Season three opens with teen Mari (a girl on the Yellowjackets soccer team) running away from her fellow teammates through the woods, playing a game. This scene is interesting, due to the fact that “Yellowjackets” season one also started with a girl, pit girl, running through the woods. Unfortunately, she was not playing a game — she was being chased.
So far, viewers know it is summer time in the wilderness, and the teen Natalie has taken the title of “The Antler Queen,” which means that she is the leader the group. Viewers also know that Coach Ben is alive, and has been hiding out in a cave ever since the cabin burned down. Adult Lottie has gotten out of the hospital and paid Shauna and her family a visit, while Taissa and Van go on an adventure to an abandoned ice cream parlor to attempt to uncover memories from Taissa’s past.
