The Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School Headlight documentary crew investigates one of the oldest questions of human civilization: do teenage boys dap each other up because they want to hold hands? Join us as we dive deep into the male psyche, through a series of interviews and documentary-style specials on the history of the gesture and its evolution through the ages. Through this project, we will find out once and for all if teenage boys really dap each other up because of something more, something vital to human connection, and maybe then, we’ll know a little more about what it means to be human.

Quinlyn Black (she/her), Section Editor/Student News Leader
Quinlyn is a senior at Ida B. Wells, and this is her first year on The Headlight, after being part of the Guardian News Network last year. On GNN, she wrote scripts, edited videos, and spent a few precious moments on camera. Quinlyn is also the head of Ida B. Wells’ Creative Writing Club, and advises anyone interested to reach out to Mr. Kaplan-Miner, because it’s an awesome club, really the best in the school. You can also find her onstage downtown at The Judy when she’s not working as a waitress or in her room reading.
