This is a Broadcast Journalism video made by five freshman journalists at Ida B. Wells High School. It’s a deep dive into the recent suppression of free speech in our country. It focuses directly on the events in September, 2025, when Jimmy Kimmel’s show was suspended by ABC. We felt that his shows’ suspension was a wake up call and it caused us to want to inform our community of their right to freedom of speech. The film includes interviews from teachers and a student at our school about the suppression of free speech, as well as in depth information about Jimmy Kimmel’s suspension.
