Spotify dropped Wednesday Dec. 3rd, and it’s so much better than last year. Every December people will post online about their Spotify wrapped, how many minutes they listened to music, their top artists and albums. It’s now been a whole 10 years since the first Spotify wrap came out, and it just keeps getting better and better, so many new things were added to this year’s Spotify wrap that weren’t there last year.
Of course you have your normal things that come in your Spotify wrapped every year like, your top albums, your favorite artists, and a short video from your top artist, they made one for Spotify. Though, while artists went above and beyond for their videos, some artists didn’t make a video at all. But, if you mostly listen to podcasts, you were in luck this year because every song, podcast and audio book counted towards Spotify wrapped this year.
One of the biggest changes to Spotify wrapped this year was the “Wrapped party”. This was a live group feature where you can join a “party” (with up to nine people) and Spotify would compare everyone’s Spotify wrapped in real time. It would compare your top artists, time spent listening to Spotify.
In 2022 and 2023 Spotify wrapped had “Personality cards” and “Audio Aura” where, depending on what you listened to and what you looked for on Spotify, it would give you one out of 16 different personality types. This year, Spotify changed this feature to clubs based off of what you listened to, then placing you into one out of six different clubs. The six clubs were: Cloud State Society, Club Serotonin, Grit Collective, Soft Hearts Club, Cosmic Stereo Club, and Full Charge Crew.
Another new feature of Spotify wrapped this year was giving each Spotify user a listening age. Once you got to that part of your Spotify wrapped, a message popped up saying “age is just a number”. Furthermore, most people got listening ages within the 60’s and 70’s, many years older than their actual age.
Spotify wrapped isn’t just something that goes on in an app once a year, it has become a culture phenomenon, every post about it, and everyone gets excited. Whether you love your results or you feel totally called out by them, Spotify wrapped has definitely done a great job this year.
