While we are in the midst of winter, we are also entering a busy time of year for celebrities: award season. Popular award shows such as the Critics’ Choice, Golden Globes, Grammys, BAFTA Film Awards, Oscars and iHeartRadio Music Awards all take place from November through March.
The 83rd annual Golden Globe Awards aired live on Jan. 11, 2026. Hundreds of celebrities walked the red carpet as they arrived at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California.
Celebrities like Timothée Chalamet and Ariana Grande especially stood out at the event due to their fashion choices, with Chalamet wearing a Chrome Hearts suit and Grande in a black Vivienne Westwood gown. Meanwhile, Teyana Taylor appeared in a custom Schiaparelli dress, Michael B. Jordan in a brown Prada suit and Jennifer Lawrence made her appearance in a sheer floral dress by Sarah Burton.
For this prestigious event, the Golden Globes reached out to well-known comedian Nikki Glaser, making her a back-to-back host. During the event, Glaser would make risky jokes regarding Leonardo DiCaprio and his young girlfriends, as well as CBS News for the factuality of their stories.
“The award for most editing goes to CBS News,” said Glazer. “Yes. CBS News: America’s newest place to see BS news.”
Delving into the film category, there were many films nominated to receive awards, but none more so than “Sinners,” “One Battle After Another,” “Hamnet,” “Wicked: For Good” and “Marty Supreme.”
“One Battle After Another” swept the film category, winning a total of four awards: Best Comedy or Musical, Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Supporting Actress (won by Teyana Taylor).
There were many more exciting wins in this category. “KPop Demon Hunters” took home the award for Best Original Song in a Motion Picture, for their song “Golden.” With its#1 spot on the Billboard Global 200 chart for 19 weeks, this came as no surprise. Timothée Chalamet won Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Motion Picture for a Musical or Comedy for his main character role as Marty Mauser in “Marty Supreme,” which just came out on Dec. 25, 2025. Sinners won two awards: Best Cinematic and Box Office Achievement, as well as Best Original Score for a Motion Picture.
Something that some viewers found surprising was the absence of wins by the movie “Wicked: For Good.” Despite being nominated a total of five times for Ariana Grande’s performance and the songs “No Place Like Home” and “The Girl In The Bubble,” it unfortunately lost in each category in which it was nominated.
Transitioning into the TV categories, shows like “The Pitt,” “Severance,” “The White Lotus,” “The Bear,” “Adolescence” and “The Studio” were all heavily nominated for awards. Among all these popular series, it was a highly competitive battle to see who would win in each category.
In the end, Adolescence, the four-episode fictional crime series on Netflix, swept the competition, taking home four awards. Best Television Limited Series, Anthology Series or Motion Picture Made for Television, Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Limited Series, Anthology Series, or a Motion Picture Made for Television (won by Stephen Graham), Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television (won by Owen Cooper) and Best Performance by a Female Actor in a Supporting Role on Television (won by Erin Doherty).
A few more exciting moments in this category included wins from “The Pitt” for Best Television Series – Drama and Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Drama (won by Noah Wyle). Seth Rogen’s ‘The Studio’ won Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy as well as Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Series – Musical or Comedy (won by Seth Rogan).
A new category was introduced at the 83rd annual Golden Globes: Best Podcast. Nominees for this category included “Call Her Daddy,” “Smartless,” “Armchair Expert With Dax Shepard” and “Good Hang With Amy Poehler,” just to name a few.
Poehler ended up taking the award home with her podcast, notably beating her ex-husband, Will Arnett’s, “Smartless” podcast.
On top of all this, there was a fun list of celebrity presenters this year, notably Charli XCX, Joe Keery, Jennifer Garner, Hailee Steinfeld, Wanda Sykes, Judd Apatow, Zoe Kravitz, Snoop Dogg, Kevin Bacon, George Clooney, Mila Kunis and Kevin Hart.
Overall, this year’s Golden Globe awards were nothing out of the ordinary, but full of exciting moments for viewers and big fans to watch.
