Imagine if an Oreo cookie and a Hershey’s cookies and cream bar combined to make a soft, crunchy cookie. That’s the beauty of cookies and cream cookies. These treats take the classic cookies and cream flavor a step further by turning it into a fun and delicious baking experience.
The unique cookies and cream flavor originated in 1979, from a dairy plant manager, Shirley Seas, and his students, Joe Leadom and Joe Van Treek. They were looking to make a new ice cream flavor to differentiate themselves from other shops. They took the usual crushed cookie topping and decided to mix it in. They bought an entire store’s supply of Oreos, crushed them, and mixed them into a vanilla ice cream base. With further evaluation, they decided on the infamous name, cookies ‘n cream. After the invention of the flavor, many ice cream companies decided to copy it. Some claimed to have found the flavor first and even tried to trademark it. Despite not knowing the full truth of the flavor’s origin, we have many to thank for this delicious flavor. In fact, the cookies and cream flavor is so good that students would enjoy it as a snack in our very own student store.

Reviews:
This delicious recipe was reviewed by two Ida B. Wells-Barnett High School students. Both said that the cookies were very appetizing.
The first student was Kiara Donell, a freshman. Kiara really enjoyed the cookie, mentioning how she loved the flavors in the cookie and thought they all worked well together. One thing she’d recommend is to make it a little less crispy. Adding emphasis on making sure they’re not burnt, as the cookies would taste softer. Despite that, Kiara would definitely recommend this recipe to others to try such a yummy cookie.
Utsavi Subedi, another freshman at IBW, loved the cookie and said it was really good. She also enjoyed the flavor, noting how she enjoys cookies and cream. One thing Subedi would tweak about the cookies is making them softer, by baking them for a shorter time or at a lower temperature. Otherwise, she would definitely recommend the cookie for others and potentially make it for herself.
There you have it, a simple yet very delicious recipe that gives you the best cookies and cream cookies ever. Baking these cookies is such a fun experience, and the reward of eating them is definitely worth it.
