A24, or “A24 Films,” is a popular entertainment company founded in 2012 by Daniel Katz, John Hodges and David Fenkel. Known for their artsy and edgy takes on films, they’ve grown from an independent film company to a multi-billion-dollar powerhouse in the film industry.
The company officially became a production studio in 2016. Around this time, it gained immense traction due to its award-winning movie “Moonlight,” directed by Barry Jenkins and starring Mahershala Ali.
Since the release of “Moonlight,” A24 has released many critically acclaimed films. Some of their biggest include “Lady Bird” (2017), “Hereditary” (2018), “Midsommar” (2019) and “Everything Everywhere All at Once” (2022).
A24 has also produced a few television shows, their greatest being “Euphoria,” starring Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney and Jacob Elordi. With its first episode airing in 2019, the HBO original show became an immediate success. “Euphoria” follows the life of teenager, Rue, and her friends, facing difficult problems such as addiction, abuse, toxic friendships and intense family dynamics.
Season three of “Euphoria” was released on April 12, 2026, but it isn’t the only new release from A24 in April or the coming months.
“The Drama,” a romance film written and directed by Kristoffer Borgli, is premiered on April 3, 2026. It follows an engaged couple, played by Robert Pattinson and Zendaya, as their relationship is challenged by an unexpected turn of events, spiraling their picture-perfect wedding week.
Following the release of “The Drama,” “Mother Mary” will be released on April 17, 2026. A musical/drama written and directed by David Lowery and starring Anne Hathaway, Michaela Coel and Hunter Schafer, “Mother Mary” follows a pop star as she reconnects with her old best friend and former costume designer the night she’s set to make her return to the stage.
On May 29, 2026, “Backrooms,” directed by Kane Parsons and written by Will Soodik, is inspired by the fictional location under the same name. While the synopsis hasn’t provided much information about the movie, A24 illustrates the premise as “A strange doorway appears in the basement of a furniture showroom.”
